World of Castingsport now live!

This website will focus on how to master the art of Castingsport. If you want to know how to handle a fishing rod to achieve accuracy and distance this will be the place. We will also follow competitions, rankings and all the latest news. If you feel you would like to become more involved there will be forums, personal sites and a photo area. If you are an enthusiast who wants to enhance your fishing skills or are you just that person who are interested on what's going on in the sport of casting, this will be the website where you will find all the necessary information.

The castingsport.com domain has changed owner. The domain used to be the ICSF (International Castingsport Federation) official website. The website has been down for quite some time and recently the subscription period ended. We have now taken over the domain and our goal is to keep the site updated as regularly as possible.

Hallenturnier will this year be postponed. The competition was supposed to be held on the 31st of March. Hallenturnier is probably the biggest indoor castingsport competition in the world and last year more then 7 nations was participating. Without further information Kurt Klamet(president of the German federation) has now announced that this years competition will be cancelled. We hope that this is just a once of occasion and that next years competition will be held as usual.

The calander for 2007 is now up and running, we will try to get hold of as many invitations as possible. You can help by sending us your invitation to your competition. The list will contain both international as well as local competitions.

During the 24th Sachsen-Anhalt cup both the Germen casters Jens Nagel and Jana Maisel beat the world record in the pentathlon with amazing 570,12 points respectively 533,05 points. Unfortunately there were no international judges present who could approve the scores.

Due to the cancelletion of the indoor competition in Berlin the first EC will this year be held in Linzing Austria. Visit the Austrian official website for more information.

Of season is an important time when you and your club mates can get together and bond. IFK Täby has taken the opportunity to get to know each other better by arranging a skiing trip to the swedish mountains.

The president of the Nordic countries announced during the World Championship banquet that Sweden together with Norway will be hosting the 2007 European Championships. So far no official announcement has yet been published but it looks like the city of Malmö will be hosting the championships. We will follow up on this news...

Castingsport History,

Casting was born as a natural part of fishing. By experience and knowledge fishermen knew where the fish are were, the only problem was, to get there. This lead to the sport casting, people wanted to become more accurate and wanted to through further to catch more fish. The fisherman who practiced handling, accuracy and distance cought more fish then his friend next to him.

ICSF - International Casting Sport Federation was formed in 1955. This meant that countries all around the globe could compete under the same rules. And the first official world championships was held 1956.....
